Brides up North Vintage Wedding Fayre at The Bowden Rooms, Cheshire

Yesterday, hubby and I spent the day meeting lots of lovely couples at a wonderful vintage wedding fair in Altrincham.













There was an amazing selection of suppliers, including beautiful vintage accessories for venue dressing, gorgeous bespoke vintage dresses, sparkly tiaras and accessories, yurts, stunning floral displays and a fab vintage band who kept us entertained all day!














We'd never been to The Bowden Rooms before but had heard lots of great things about it and we weren't disappointed. The setting is in a beautiful residential area in a very lovely area of Cheshire and the back of the venue overlooks a Croquet Club where local residents were taking advantage of the good weather for the day!









The venue is relatively small compared to some venues but perfect for a vintage style intimate wedding and has some gorgeous details including the wonderful ceiling adorned with some fabulous chandeliers and beautiful wooden floors!

We had a great day, the time flew with lots of lovely couples enjoying the weather and popping down to see us. We also met some very talented suppliers who'd created some stunning displays on their stands, makes me want to get married again!!

Sage Green & Antique Pink Vintage Wedding Cake

This week I joined a group of very talented ladies at The Last Drop Village for a bridal photo-shoot with photos taken by the super duper Julie Lomax from Images by Julie!

The theme was 1920's vintage with lace & pearls with the colours being sage green and antique pink so I set to work to design a cake especially for the occasion!














The bottom tier of the cake was made using a beautiful lace mould that I bought recently, it's my favourite new toy.

There is also a beautiful tier adorned with strings of the palest pink sugar pearls which look gorgeous against the soft ivory icing on the cake.













The lace tier was adorned with pretty ivory pearls to reflect the glamour of the era and I think it really lifts the lace pattern.












I then made a selection of beautiful sugar roses in soft tones of antique pink and pale silvery grey which add a touch of soft decadence to the look and tie in really well with the gorgeous sage green satin ribbon.

I can't wait to see the finished pictures from Julie and promise to share them with you!

Ivory, Peach & Purple Rose Birdcage Cake!

My latest cake design was inspired by the Spring/Summer Wedding Window display at Lancashire Floristry, Bolton.









Victoria asked me to create a wedding cake design that she could place in her window to compliment her colour scheme and theme of bird, trees and birdcages.

The colours were ivory with a combination of very pale pinks & peaches teamed with a lovely deep purple.

The cake is four tiers of soft ivory with alternate tiers having a gorgeous white lace border pattern. The top tier was a beautiful peach birdcage complete with a bird!

The whole cake was then adorned with oversized handmade sugar roses & blossoms in tones of peach & purple.


 
 

 
 

 
I love this cake, it's so different to the other colour schemes I've worked with but peach is supposed to be on trend for next year so I can't wait to work with it some more. It also works wonderfully well when teamed with gold so watch this space for more peach creations from Marie Antoinette Cakes!

Pretty Tiffany Blue & Blush Pink Pearl & Rose Cake!

Last week I made a beautiful cake for a 30th birthday party. I made the wedding cake for this lucky lady so her hubby came back to me when it was time for another fab celebration and knew his wife would definitely want a chocolate truffle cake!

When we discussed the design, he also knew that she liked the tiffany blue wedding cake from the website so we used this as the basis for the cake.










The cake was quite tall, over 15cm and covered in a light shade of tiffany blue sugarpaste.

I then hand-piped lots of royal icing pearls up the cake and topped it with a beautiful handmade oversized blush pink rose!

The end effect was so pretty and went down a real storm at the party!
